Ms Shivani Varshney
- Assistant Professor
- Biotechnology & Bioinformatics
Shivani Varshney completed her MTech from the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Punjab, where she focused her research on gene regulation in lung cancer, aiming to target genes for advanced lung cancer treatments. During her tenure at IIT Ropar, she was involved in several significant projects. Her thesis projects include ‘Exploring the non-canonical regulatory roles of TAF1C- a component of RNA Pol I transcription system’ and conducting a systematic review on ‘Wearable sensor-based devices for continuous glucose measurement in diabetes patients’.
Prior to MTech, she earned her Master of Science (MSc) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Zoology from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, securing the first position in her department in both programmes. Shivani possesses advanced skills in molecular techniques and computational biology, including DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR, Western blotting, cancer genomics databases, and cell culture techniques. She is proficient in using various high-end analytical instruments and software like GraphPad and Cytoscape. She has two years of teaching experience and actively participates in seminars, webinars, and volunteer work.
